Information NeuroBriefer collects

NeuroBriefer collects information needed to create and operate an account, including email address, account and profile information, research interests, keywords, briefing preferences, and email preferences.

The app also stores user-created or user-selected research activity, such as favourites, notes, collections, more-like-this and less-like-this feedback, and other account interactions that make the product work.

NeuroBriefer also uses technical information needed to operate, diagnose, and protect the service, such as login/session information, request information, and error or reliability information.

Why the information is used

Information is used for account access, personalization, weekly briefings, saved features, user-selected email delivery, troubleshooting, security and prevention of abuse, service reliability, and improving the usefulness of the product.

Privacy commitments

NeuroBriefer does not sell personal information. It is not built around advertising. Research interests, keywords, notes, favourites, and collections are used to provide and improve the user's own experience.

Private account content is private by default. Content becomes publicly accessible only when a user deliberately creates or uses a public sharing link, where that feature exists. Anyone with a public sharing link may be able to view the shared content.

Security

NeuroBriefer uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect account information and private research data. This includes relying on established service providers, limiting access to information needed to operate the service, and using standard protections for data transmission and storage where supported by those providers.

No online service can guarantee perfect security, but protecting researcher data is treated as a core responsibility.

Service providers

NeuroBriefer relies on trusted third-party service providers to operate core functions such as authentication, database hosting, application hosting, email delivery, and AI-supported article processing. The repository confirms use of Supabase for authentication/database features and OpenAI for AI-supported processing such as embeddings and summaries.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services to NeuroBriefer. The purpose is to operate the product, not to sell researcher data.

AI summaries

AI is used to generate or support article summaries. Summaries may be incomplete or wrong, and users should verify important claims against the original article. The privacy point here is limited to article summarization; NeuroBriefer should not be treated as a substitute for reading the source paper.

Email

NeuroBriefer may send weekly briefing emails and account or service emails. Weekly briefing emails are optional and can be unsubscribed from. Some account or service messages may still be necessary to operate the account or communicate important service information.

Cookies and authentication

NeuroBriefer may use essential browser storage or cookies to keep users signed in, preserve sessions, maintain security, and support basic application functions. This policy does not describe advertising cookies because NeuroBriefer is not built around advertising.

Public pages

Public marketing, Resources, Methodology, Principles, Privacy, and Terms pages can be viewed without logging in.

Account deletion and data removal

Users can request account deletion or data removal by emailing info@neurobriefer.ai. Associated account information will be removed or scheduled for deletion where reasonably possible, subject to information that may need to be retained for security, legal, backup, or operational reasons.

International processing

Service providers may store or process information outside the user's country. NeuroBriefer uses these providers to operate the service and tries to use them in a way that is appropriate for private research data.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as NeuroBriefer evolves. When that happens, the “Last updated” date will be changed.
